As she dances ballet herself, dance motivates her time and again. Sarah Jil Niklas draws the inspiration for her motif worlds from it.
She is constantly searching for the interpersonal. Her pictures reflect her fascination with and longing for connection, fusion and togetherness in its deeper dimension.
With her unique and recognizable painting technique, she uses deliberately random structures to create realistic-looking pictures with the finest details. Viewed up close and in detail, her paintings appear abstract and like disordered chaos. However, when viewed as a whole, this chaos forms a clear picture. For Sarah Jil Niklas, this is an analogy to real life. Despite all the distractions and confusion, the chaos and everyday stress is only ever the building block for the interpersonal relationships and major events in our lives.
