The colors, applied with relish, are often reworked several times. Objects are often incorporated into the painting process, outlined with lines, painted over and evoked again. It is people, nature, the charmingly imperfect that fascinates Christiane; Maria Lohrig and which she translates into her own pictorial language. This can be a crumbling wall, graffiti or life and activity in the most diverse places.

Christiane Maria Lohrig's painterly works are different.
The artist's enthusiasm for discovering new terrain and the inevitable departure from her own comfort zone are reflected in her works. An individualist, often swimming against the tide. It is the human being, nature, the charmingly imperfect that fascinates Christiane; Maria Lohrig and which she translates into her own visual language. This can be a crumbling wall, graffiti or life and activity in the most diverse places. Her works are sometimes loud and cheeky, sometimes small and quiet. The artist consciously seeks to confront regulations, barriers and social gaps. And then her works are created with an almost childlike, naive curiosity and sense of adventure. Her painting is a balancing act between color, form and line, surface and space, abstraction and object, picture and writing. It is the lightness that jumps out at us in Lohrig's works. The colors, applied with relish, are often reworked several times. Objects are often incorporated into the painting process, outlined with lines, painted over and emphasized again The artist glues scraps of paper, pieces of fabric, photos or snippets of text onto her pictures. She tears, glues and prints objects into her imagery. Her studio is large, bright and flooded with light, leaving room for chaotic work. Her little oasis. The artist usually works on several pieces at the same time. They hang on walls or stand around and dry or wait until they are further processed and finally finished. The artist often doesn't decide when a work is really finished until days later. Then it is carefully checked again and finally signed and photographed.
