Detailed description
Picture "Sakura Two" (2023)
Sakura (japanese) means “cherry blossom” and is derived from saku, which means to bloom, or alternately to smile/laugh. Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. During the sakura period I was in Japan, and couldn't pass up these overwhelming blossoms. The subject contains so many painterly aspects. I set it up quite raw, spontaneous and direct. The sides are painted through, so that it can also be hung without a frame. The painting is ready to hang immediately.
