Detailed description

Picture "SWANES & CRANES I" (2022)

"Swanes & Cranes I" shows the abstract depiction of a swan in shades of blue and pink, creating a tension between calm and liveliness. The impasto application of paint and the visible brushstrokes give the picture an almost sculptural quality, whereby the painting process itself takes center stage. Acrylic, sand, ash, coffee and marble powder are applied to the canvas in layers. The motif of the bird symbolizes freedom and nature, while at the same time the fragmented depiction highlights its vulnerability - a reference to the threat posed to many wild animals by humans. The contrast between the delicate figure of the bird and the raw, dense texture of the picture reflects the fragility of animal species and their habitats. The work is part of a series of four paintings by the artist HeikeLin Triebel and moves between the poles of abstraction and symbolism.
