Picture "Blue eyes" (2016)
The picture shows the upper half of the face of a young man with wet hair, looking intensely at the viewer with his blue eyes. Drops of water are visible on the skin and the damp hair reflects the light. The outline of a swimming pool and an expanse of water can be seen in the background. The painting was inspired by a situation we are all familiar with, when someone appears at the edge of a swimming pool and the fascination of this moment captivates us.
About Heinz Stoewer
In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it.
Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works.
My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas.
With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
