Detailed description

Picture "concealment" (2021)

A purple cloth with folds conceals parts of a man's body, dominating the pictorial space with its colorfulness and contrasted by the salmon-orange background. Only the man's stomach and part of a thigh are visible. Although little of the body is visible, the veiling creates an erotic effect. What is going on here? Has the man quickly thrown on a scarf to cover himself or is there someone else in the room who could pull the scarf away? room who wants to pull the cloth away? Or is it the sight of someone sleeping? The work is signed and dated on the reverse.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
