Detailed description

Picture "Desert creek" (2009)

It is always a fascinating experience to come across an oasis and water while hiking in the desert. One such encounter inspired the artist to create this work when he spotted a stream in Andreas Canyon in the Californian desert. The picture shows a bird's eye view of the watercourse with its colorful stones and pebbles and the flowing movement of the precious water in this place. As an elementary prerequisite for life, water is both touching and calming. And this painting conveys this directly. The work is dated and signed on the back.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
