Detailed description

Picture "Escalante sky" (2008)

On his numerous hikes and trips in the American Southwest, the artist repeatedly came across tranquil expanses under a gigantic sky and was fascinated by them. He processed these impressions in this painting without taking a specific landscape view as a model. The work is inspired by inner images and depicts a landscape from his imagination, but one that could exist there in exactly the same way. Peace and tranquillity define this painting and the absence of people, with the exception of the viewer.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
