On his mountain hikes in the San Jacinto Wilderness in California, the artist repeatedly saw manzanita bushes, which stand out due to their special branch structures and reddish wood. Fascinated by these branch structures, they became the basis for this painting, which, however, completely deviates from a naturalistic depiction in its color scheme. The other elements such as the leaves and background are also creative inspiration and not a reflection of nature. The chosen main colors light blue and purple give the painting its very own, almost surreal mood, which despite this color alienation is able to reflect the harmony of nature. The work is signed and dated on the back.
