If you walk through the forest with your eyes open, you will discover many interesting things along the way. And this is especially true of natural areas that have a good microclimate, because only there do mosses and lichens thrive optimally. A rock covered with mosses, lichens and ice was the inspiration for this abstract painting, which takes up the colors and shapes of nature and yet was transformed into something completely different by the painter. The colors of the moss, lichen and ice stand in stark contrast to the dark, varied surfaces of the rock. The picture is signed and dated 2004/2023 on the back, as painterly changes were made in 2023.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
