Detailed description

Picture "pool with orange wall" (2024)

A view of a corner of the swimming pool, reflecting the orange wall behind it. The painting was inspired by the numerous swimming pools in Palm Springs, California, which are often surrounded by elaborately designed desert gardens The interplay of sculptural-looking plants and their shadows in the hot sun creates an impressive play of colors on the orange wall bordering the garden. A typical example of life in California. But one can also ask how long such habitats make sense for people in the desert and are justifiable due to the limited water resources. The work is signed and dated on the reverse.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
