Picture "Remnants and traces" (2023)
This oil painting was submitted for the Sparkasse Karlsruhe Art Prize 2023 with the theme "Without Masks"; it was then selected by the jury for the art prize exhibition from over 500 applications and exhibited. The work deals with the consequences of the corona pandemic in retrospect and shows, on the one hand, the relief that the masks can be hung up and, on the other hand, that the traces are still present in us and in nature in a very real way. Only on closer inspection does one recognize the mask hanging from a tree structure in the freely swinging forms of the painting. The choice of colors underlines this feeling of relief and the light-heartedness that is now slowly returning. The work is signed + dated on the back.
