Detailed description

Picture "Solid" (2004)

The abstract painting in shades of gray and light green is dominated by a black stripe that protrudes into the work from above. The incorporated grains of sand create interesting structures and small shadows in the subtle grey-green color areas. The "heaviness" of the black bar contrasts with the lightness of the rest of the painting. The work was inspired by the shapes and colors of nature. The work is dated and signed by the artist on the back.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
