Picture "tropical #1" (2018)
During his stays in Palm Springs in California, the artist lives in a resort with a tropical garden, which repeatedly inspires him to create works. Leaf shapes in the most diverse variations and colors served as inspiration and as a model for this work. Detached from their natural context, they fill the picture space and seem to move through the flowing forms; a work that radiates tranquillity and conveys the beauty of nature. The work is signed on the reverse.
About Heinz Stoewer
In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it.
Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works.
My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas.
With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
