Detailed description

Picture "Tulips" (2023)

At the transition from long winter to spring, we can hardly wait for nature's harbingers of spring and especially the first tulip blossoms in the garden! This painting is inspired by this feeling. Different colored tulip blossoms are arranged in this oil painting, which is reminiscent of flower paintings or bouquets of flowers from Baroque painting due to the choice of colors and the composition. The dark brown background, which makes the flowers of the parrot tulips stand out radiantly, emphasizes this impression. Each of the flowers and buds is different and the delicate leaves floating in front of the background bring everything together to form a bouquet. The abstract lines surrounding the whole create a sense of lightness and emphasize that this is a contemporary work. The work is signed and dated on the back.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer + banker in favor of painting, which has now been the focus of my life for 25 years after training as an artist.
My painting varies between realistic depictions and abstraction, whereby the interplay of form and color, i.e. the painting itself, is just as central to my work as the messages behind it. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people are the focus of my series of works. My painting is inspired by the media, the flood of images on the Internet, the nature that surrounds us and personal experiences and encounters. It is always surprising to me when and where the pictures arise in my head that then find their way onto the canvas. With my work I want to inspire, make people curious and thoughtful, and touch them.
