Picture "Getaway" (2020)
The painting, in shades of blue and red, is a representation of escape routes. The ladder, placed in the middle of the face, conveys a strong symbolism of escape. The escape routes can be interpreted as a metaphor for the search for safety and freedom. The directional cross with the four arrows leaves open various possibilities of the direction in which one could escape if there is danger. It is a reflection on uncertainty and the choices we have to make in difficult situations. The work encourages different interpretations about the meaning of escape and being trapped.
