Detailed description

Picture "FLOWERS IN FEBRUARY" (2023)

The painting contrasts with strong magenta and purple tones, which are interrupted by bright accents in yellow-green, turquoise and a fluorescent pink. This color combination lends the artwork a lightness and cheerfulness that brings color to the viewer's soul. The colors are deliberately at odds with the cold season and convey a feeling of warmth and sunshine, which we particularly long for at this time of year. "Flowers in February" is a colorful and inspiring work of art that delights the viewer with its intensity and energy. It is a work of art that leaves you with a feeling of joy and lightness and brings color into your everyday life.

About Karin Döring

My art makes women visible - in their strength, vulnerability and resilience.
I explore the tension between social expectations and individual identity. I am particularly interested in those often underestimated strengths such as empathy, sensitivity and emotional intelligence. In series such as HUMAN STRIPES® or CRUCIFIED OR JUST BLOCKED, I work with deliberate concealment: not to hide, but to reveal new layers. My portraits are both a mirror and a statement - painted with texture, acrylic, silver leaf and 24-carat gold leaf. I started painting in 2017 - on impulse, not from a plan. Since then, I have been developing my visual language in my own process - intuitively, material-consciously, with a focus on identity and visibility. I dedicate myself to these quiet but profound forms of power. A woman doesn't have to be loud to be strong. She doesn't have to be aggressive to assert herself. Sometimes the greatest strength lies in the ability to feel, to connect, to heal and to stay true to oneself. My works are an invitation to reflect on these perceptions. They show women not only as individuals, but also as part of a collective narrative that spans generations. Each of my portraits carries a story. A story of struggles, dreams, successes and obstacles.
