About Karin Mayer
On the road in the field of tension between representationalism & abstraction
Nature and landscape representations have always exerted a very special fascination for me and determine, from my artistic beginnings in the 80s until today, a large part of my work.
They serve me as a basis for my personal visual language in the field of tension between representationalism and abstraction and the representation of transient moods in nature.
Felt impressions, memories, favorite places and travel impressions come back to the surface in my studio and there I bring them to different formats. My mood determines the coloring, the interplay of line and surface - sometimes delicate, sometimes energetic, and thus the overall dynamics of the work. Thus fragile can meet powerful surfaces and between lively color spaces approach gossamer, simple glazes of the concentrated energy of luminous color islands.
I am guided by my inner navigation and spontaneity, always in search of what my image needs.
I was born and raised in 1962 in Reutlingen/Baden-Württemberg and now live for a long time together with my family in Münsterland, where my studio is also located.
Over the years, I have participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad and have fair experience. I am a member of the Bundesverband bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler Westfalen e.V. as well as the Künstlerinnenforum Münsterland e.V..
I sell my paintings to private customers and collectors at home and abroad.
