On an autumn walk, we followed the course of a stream from the forest through a park into the city. Children and dogs were having fun in the stream at various points. I was fascinated by the leaves that were dammed up and "stacked" by the water at obstacles. The piles of leaves were in constant motion. Sometimes the water added a leaf, sometimes it took one away. Leaf dance. The sunlight found its way through the canopy in places, making the autumnal colors glow and the sediment glisten in the sun. At home, I created this semi-abstract picture with strong blue "water" that celebrates the dynamics of the situation. Signed and dated.

Because these pictures are only clear at first glance. Again and again, Kirsten Treis captures the seemingly incidental and uses it to create new focal points. She is fascinated by the beauty of the moment, when light conjures up sunspots and the trivial suddenly comes into focus. The painter appreciates the light, watercolor-like quality of acrylic paint and plays with the alternation between image and abstraction. The painter donates 3% from the sale of her paintings to nature conservation projects.
