Detailed description
Sculpture "King Salmon" (2019)
The sculpture "King Salmon" belongs to the series "The last of their kind". This series reflects on the way mankind deals with its limited resources. The king salmon symbolizes the overfishing of the oceans and thus fits into the critical reflection of human activities of the Anthroprozähn age. Made from the endangered wood of the yew tree, the material of the sculpture thus becomes part of the artistic-content interaction which also aims to draw attention to the lack of reforestation. In a spiraling upward movement, the fish strives towards the surface of the water in order to break through it or escape the human net. The dynamic image of the sculpture lends it the presence and urgency that the theme deserves.
