Detailed description
Picture "Three" (2022)
All good things come in threes. Three miles against the wind, making a face like three days of rainy weather, forever and three days, in three devils' names and very topical right now: keeping someone three steps away from you. The number 3 is actually a symbol of perfection. You notice this in religions when you think of the Trinity in the Christian tradition or the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva in Hinduism. But also when we think of our perception: we see three-dimensionally. The simplest geometric figure is the triangle. The triad is considered to be particularly harmonious. If we think of fairy tales and legends, there are quite often three wishes that someone has free. From all these things you can see how fundamental and important the number 3 is for our understanding, for our culture, for our perception. Answer by Dr. Laura Neuhaus, Duden Editorial Office Berlin
