"Like the last green in color jars are these leaves, dry, dull and rough, behind the flower umbels, which do not carry a blue on them, reflect it only from afar. They reflect it tearfully and inaccurately, as if they wanted to lose it in turn, and as in old blue stationery there is yellow in them, violet and gray (...)". Rainer Maria Rilke's sonnet "Blue Hydrangea" served as the starting point for this large-format still life. The search for the beautiful in art, that beauty, gains depth through the aspect of the ephemeral. . The glass surface of the Art Nouveau vase in overlay technique also contributes to a mysterious impression through its elaborate multiple coatings and etchings.
