Detailed description

Picture "City Dreams" (2022)

Reality and fiction merge in this surreal cityscape. An abstract cityscape can be seen in the foreground, which merges seamlessly into a sea with a coastline behind it. When you look at the picture, your gaze is drawn from the hectic foreground to the calming horizon. For me, the picture and the title express my longing for peace and nature in the often hectic and stressful city life. The picture was exhibited in solo exhibitions in Göttingen and Bad Hersfeld in 2023 and at the ARTe Konstmesse in Constance in 2024. It has a narrow shadow gap frame made of black and blue glazed wood. Of course, you can also purchase the picture without a frame at a lower price. The sides of the picture are also painted so that it can be hung without a frame. The picture is signed on the front and back and is ready to hang. The surface of the picture is coated with a layer of varnish with UV protection.

About Peter Stahr

After studying art in Braunschweig, Peter Stahr worked in the fields of painting, media art, web design and as a teacher with various exhibitions in Germany.
Since 2021, he has worked exclusively as a freelance artist with a studio in Göttingen. Stahr paints abstract landscapes from his feelings and memories. He lived by the sea for many years and ran various windsurfing schools in the Mediterranean in his youth. Hence his preference for abstract seascapes. In his "Magic Landscapes" series of paintings, the viewer is invited on inner journeys of discovery that take him to personal (longing) places that awaken feelings and memories. His abstract landscapes often move between figuration and abstraction. In the "Neue Wege" series of paintings, he also expresses his own fears of the present and the future. These pictures can be thought-provoking and evoke various associations on an emotional level. He likes to work in large Picture sizes with acrylic or acrylic mixed media on canvas. In his works, he mixes acrylic with various pigments, emulsion paints, pastes, earths and other materials. In addition to form and color, the material is added as a supporting medium. This results in multi-layered, detailed works with great depth.
