Detailed description

Picture "Rush Hour" (2024)

In my surreal cityscapes, the boundaries between fiction and reality become blurred. These pictures can be thought-provoking and evoke different associations on an emotional level. The titles reveal a little of my own associations and feelings during the painting process. Many thin layers of paint and the mixture of acrylic with different materials create a greater depth and special light effects. The sides of the picture are painted so that it can be hung without a frame. The picture is signed on the front and back.

About Peter Stahr

After studying art in Braunschweig, Peter Stahr worked in the fields of painting, media art, web design and as a teacher with various exhibitions in Germany.
Since 2021, he has worked exclusively as a freelance artist with a studio in Göttingen. Stahr paints abstract landscapes from his feelings and memories. He lived by the sea for many years and ran various windsurfing schools in the Mediterranean in his youth. Hence his preference for abstract seascapes. In his "Magic Landscapes" series of paintings, the viewer is invited on inner journeys of discovery that take him to personal (longing) places that awaken feelings and memories. His abstract landscapes often move between figuration and abstraction. He also expresses his own fears about the present and the future in the "Neue Wege" series of paintings. These pictures can be thought-provoking and evoke various associations on an emotional level. He likes to work in large Picture sizes with acrylic or acrylic mixed media on canvas. In his works, he mixes acrylic with various pigments, emulsion paints, pastes, earths and other materials. In addition to form and color, the material is added as a supporting medium. This results in multi-layered, detailed works with greater depth.
