Detailed description

Picture "Solaris" (2022)

The calming painting shows a surreal-looking abstract seascape. A green-blue sea with a coastline in shades of orange, yellow and violet. I painted this mysterious landscape freely from my feelings. The result evoked in me an association with the fantastic novel of the same name by Stanislav Lem. Solaris is about human encounters with extraterrestrial life - but also about encounters with oneself. The picture was exhibited in solo exhibitions in Göttingen and Bad Hersfeld in 2023. It has a glazed wooden shadow gap frame. Of course, you can also purchase the picture without a frame at a lower price. In addition, the sides of the picture are painted so that it can also be hung without a frame. The picture is signed on the front and back and is ready to hang. The picture surface has a varnish coating with UV protection.

About Peter Stahr

After studying art in Braunschweig, Peter Stahr worked in the fields of painting, media art, web design and as a teacher with various exhibitions in Germany.
Since 2021, he has worked exclusively as a freelance artist with a studio in Göttingen. Stahr paints abstract landscapes from his feelings and memories. He lived by the sea for many years and ran various windsurfing schools in the Mediterranean in his youth. Hence his preference for abstract seascapes. In his "Magic Landscapes" series of paintings, the viewer is invited on inner journeys of discovery that take him to personal (longing) places that awaken feelings and memories. His abstract landscapes often move between figuration and abstraction. In the "Neue Wege" series of paintings, he also expresses his own fears about the present and the future. These pictures can be thought-provoking and evoke various associations on an emotional level. He likes to work in large Picture sizes with acrylic or acrylic mixed media on canvas. In his works, he mixes acrylic with various pigments, emulsion paints, pastes, earths and other materials. In addition to form and color, the material is added as a supporting medium. This results in multi-layered, detailed works with greater depth.
