Detailed description

Picture "Banker's delight VI" (2011)

The independent, uncontrollable spiral in the financial system and the parallel extreme behavior of some of those involved - an automatism in human nature. The work was inspired by the development of the financial crisis. Glazing, liquid acrylic paints, sometimes mixed with ink, were applied with a brush to handmade paper. The size of the handmade paper with the drawing is 33 x 44 cm, fixed on a thin cardboard measuring 40 x 50 cm.

About Ralf Schmidt

There is a dialog between my works: you have "saved" the works you have already created, and when you create a work, the idea for the next work automatically forms in the back of your mind.
In my works, I try to make the inside visible through the outside: just as in some paintings outer landscapes are inner landscapes, my externally detailed depictions of people/things represent inner realities. People "on their way" or taking a decisive step from one stage of life to another are a recurring motif in my work.
