Aluminum spacer frame, museum glass Unique Pigment print, cotton paper "WEAVING" Sabine Wild's cuts show both real and fictional city vedutas. They are complexly nested views of housing batteries for people, which, compared to the actually existing high-rise blocks in the suburbs of Hong Kong or Chongqing, take on a fantastically unreal character through artistic intervention. The actually existing prefabricated buildings, intended as mass settlements for crowds of people, are transferred pictorially into an even larger, almost absurdly gigantic dimension by the method of precise montage employed by Sabine Wild, and thus declared to be a science fiction of the ambivalent kind. But even more: because with this method of "exaggeration" Sabine Wild succeeds in characterizing the situation in such housing estates hyper-really. This happens because of the ability to use the photomontage artistically! Text: Peter Funken
