About Ali Sedri

Ali Sedri, born in Bonn and now living with his family in the Black Forest, embarked on a remarkable journey.
This journey included studies at the Isfahan School of Art and the University of Archaeology in Iran. He then continued his education at the Accademia di Bella Arti di Firenze in Italy. In his series "Streets" Ali Sedri presents an impressive variety of urban landscapes. These images all have in common that the individual seems to be lost amidst the canyons of buildings. The streets of these concrete and steel canyons are filled with a flowing stream of cars. The pulsating energy of the lights and changing hues are masterfully captured in Sedri's paintings, as is the shifting impressionistic color palette. Sedri's urban paintings serve as testaments to an ongoing civilizational awakening embedded in the turbulence and change of our world. Impressionism is evident in his way of capturing light and color in urban settings. Expressionist elements manifest in the distorted shapes and expressive emotions that stand out in the paintings. At the same time, the use of vibrant colors and strong contrasts show elements of Pop Art. The juxtaposition of concrete metropolises and Black Forest pines emphasizes the contrast between harsh urbanization and the natural beauty of trees. This contrast is a recurring theme in Sedri's work and reflects the tension between man and nature in the modern world. Sedri's paintings seem to convey a sense of longing for a lost connection to nature. The Black Forest firs serve as symbols of a natural world often overlooked or overshadowed by the city. This longing for nature can be understood as a universal emotion that is often suppressed in urban societies. The expressionism in Sedri's works lends emotional depth and intensity to the images. The distorted shapes and vivid colors convey a strong sense of drama and passion. This helps to reinforce the message of the paintings and draw the viewer into the artist's emotional experience. The metropolises and black forest firs in expressionist and pop art style present an impressive image of the modern world and its complexity. They encourage the viewer to reflect on the relationship between nature and urbanity, emotion and society, while providing a visually engaging and emotionally moving experience.
