In this large-format painting, painted with large brushes, there is a clear contrast between explosive brushwork and sensitive pastel tones. It is masterfully executed with skillfully controlled gradients. We have something of a dialog between a lively, lanky and excited subject on the left and a loud, tall and stocky one on the right. You can imagine the artist going back and forth between the two in the middle of an argument.
