Picture "Water lily pond II" (2024)
I'm a fan of France and travel to Paris or the surrounding area almost every year. One particular place that inspires me is the water lily pond in Giverny, where I often sketched. This picture is the result of these impressions and was designed to be long and narrow, so that up close it initially looks like a play of vertical and horizontal color variations. Only from a distance can the silhouette of water lilies in the pond be glimpsed in the blur - a motif that has become deeply engraved in our cultural memory. The composition unfolds like a silent dialog between space and time. The elongated form invites you to view the work slowly and gradually, from one end to the other, almost like a walk by the pond.
