I love going for walks along the Elbe, everyone in my city of Hamburg does - whatever the weather. In this case, the sun is shining beautifully across the river. A man takes a photo with his smartphone. The light is extremely strong, creating a silhouette-like, dramatic look. Although the picture is in neutral colors, there are small dots of color in the waves. The structure of the floor is another highlight of the picture. Each stone of the paving has a different design. This picture is painted on a colored primer on wood, the structure of the wood and the traces of the primer are slightly visible. The primer is vanilla-colored, and determines the sunny atmosphere of the painting.

About Ulla Kutter

I was born in Hamburg, have a daughter, am married and recently became a grandmother.
After two semesters at the University of Applied Sciences for Design, I switched to training and working in the social sector. Today I work as a painter and social worker. However, I have been painting all my life with different mediums and since 2004 with oil paint. I also started exhibiting in 2011. I currently have my studio in Westgate in Altona. I paint pictures on canvas with oil paints. My motifs are contemporary pictures painted using an old technique (joining surfaces, layering, glazing). Photorealism is not my aim, but my own interpretation of a situation. The focus is on atmosphere, incidence of light, colors and an individual statement.
