Picture "Port 1" (2022)
This is a picture of a scene a harbor: a tugboat maneuvers a container ship to the right dock. Ulla Kutter captures the light and the enormous expanse of sky above the water. For inspiration, the painter took a harbor ferry across the Elbe River in her hometown of Hamburg. Large cloud ships correspond with the large ship. The light falls through the gaps in the clouds, which have very bright contours in the backlight. In terms of color, indigo, three different shades of gray and bright Naples yellow dominate. The movement of the water is convincingly depicted by loose brushstrokes, the water glistens and reflects the light of the sun. It is a painting about the friends of living by a river.
