Detailed description

Picture "Baltic Sea / Ærø / Mølledamsvej" (2022)

This picture was taken on May 1 on the Danish island of Aeroe in the Baltic Sea on a cliff. In the foreground are field stones between the fresh grass. Ocher-colored dry stalks from last year break through the green vegetation. In the background shines the bright yellow of the rape fields. An old brickyard chimney can be seen in the distance. The view goes from the cliff to the gentle blue-grey sea. In the light blue sky many white veil clouds are moving. The picture support is a self-covered and triple primed canvas, which is equipped with a steel cable as a suspension. The edges are painted. The painting can be hung without framing. The signature is in front.

About Ute Meyer

I was born in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, in 1957 and grew up in Husum on the west coast.
I have had my studio in Flensburg on the east coast since the nineties. In the eighties I completed a degree in art education. Since the beginning of 2000 I have been showing my work nationally and internationally at exhibitions, fairs and in galleries. My paintings can be found with collectors at home and abroad. One of my main focuses is plein air painting. I work in my own garden or at the Danish Baltic Sea. Over the years, I have developed a way of working outdoors that enables me to finish large-format canvases in one go and capture the mood of the day. The constantly changing weather and light conditions influence, delay or accelerate my painting process and composition. This style of painting is about capturing the immediate impression, mood or atmosphere of the scene in a fresh and intuitive way, much like a musician sight-reading a piece of music. Other series of works, such as macro studies of the beach or people and animals in the landscape, are created in my studio. In abstract painting, the starting points are experiences from her daily life. Oil on canvas or wood, washed pen drawings and watercolor are my means of expression.
