Picture "ETERNITY" (2023)
The work ETERNITY tells of Yo Franklin's life in the here and now, of her travels and her encounters with people of different cultures. It invites us to pause and feel the awareness of the moment. ETERNITY is worked as an imperfect circle. In many layers of pigments in silicone oil, acrylic and resin, the artist applies the golden leaf metal, reworks and polishes the golden surface and works to finish with delicate oil pastel, zampon varnish and thousands of micro glass beads to create the surface. In the interruptions, the very dark ultramarine (almost black) peeks out between the gold surface. The edges of the painting, like the background, are painted in a warm shade of blue, so that the work can be hung immediately without the need for further framing. ETERNITY makes the room shine.
