Detailed description
Picture "Giverny_Printemps" (2023)
Monet painted his famous water lilies in the garden of Giverny in Normandy, to which Yo Franklin always felt drawn. She paints outdoors in Giverny, guided by the light and the intoxication of color. The representational becomes increasingly abstract until the painting is reduced to its colors and light. In Giverny, Yo Franklin explored the possibilities of natural sunlight so that the garden could glow in the full palette of its green tones. In the early morning, when the sun is not yet so high, the shades of green range from pale yellow-green to exotic turquoise-green, interrupted only by the white and pink tones of the first small water lilies in the water. Giverny fascinates with the sovereignty of its powerful style and the virtuoso play of colors. Giverny is painted on a solid canvas made by Yo himself using the best pigments in oil and binder with UV protection.
