Picture "INFINITY_Triptych" (2023)
The work INFINITY tells of the many journeys of the artist and her encounters with an infinite number of people of diverse origins. Yo Franklin visualizes with the triptych INFINITY her encounter with a large family in Sicily, with whom Yo was allowed to live for a few weeks. Warmth, the sweetness of the oranges and almonds, the laughter and chatter of the family, and the warmth of the sun, Yo captured in Infinity. She worked the triptych with gold impact metal and pigments in poppy seed oil. On the canvas designed with gold impact metal Yo paints in a slow, meditative process by repeatedly applying and removing paint the abstract motif. Yo makes the oil paint herself from the best lightfast pigments and poppy seed oil. The triptych measures 150 x 95, 150 x 50, 150 x 50 cm each. The edges are casually co-designed, so that the three-part work can be hung without extra frames.
