On our coast, the land is flat and the horizon is wide. The first sunlight sweeps across the plain and meets some sublime stretches of land with blades of meadow and grass gently blowing in the wind. This almost cubist-looking scenery describes "sunrise in the marshes" and emphasizes the depth and expanse of this coastal landscape with its colour contrasts and narrow horizontal forms. It gives the viewer a feeling of peace and security in the here and now
