Detailed description

Picture "What You get is what You see" (2024)

The title "You get exactly what you see" is intended to encourage you to go on a journey of discovery. What feelings do the colors used trigger in you? Do you see shapes or lines that look familiar to you or do you even see something representational? Abstract paintings like this one are full of secrets and surprises. Shades of yellow and red cover the entire canvas seemingly at random at first glance, yet they follow a well thought-out composition. The arrangement of the red areas, dots and lines in particular are deliberately placed exactly where the artist feels they should be in order to give the picture a structure. Many associations and references to what has been seen before are possible.

About Heinz Stoewer

In my early 40s, I ended my career as a lawyer and banker in favor of painting, which has been the center of my life ever since.
I live in Bad Tölz and Palm Springs, California. My painting varies between real images and abstraction, where the interplay of form and color, that is, the painting itself is as much at the center of my work as the message. Water reflections, nature-inspired themes and images of people, especially male bodies or sections of them, are focal points in my work series. The influence of the flood of images on the Internet on us and our self-perception is questioned and the equality of alternative lifestyles is important to me. I am inspired by various media, my own experience and everything that happens around me.
