Detailed description

Sculpture "Head abstract III" (2022)

Head from the series reduced to the essentials. This head was modeled from stoneware mass and after firing was processed with cold paints and patina. The stand was treated with a rust patina. Creation process of my sculptures I work the clay by following the property of the material. I deliberately leave cracks, or tear it in the leather-hard state again. The earthy structures of the clay I let visibly flow into my works.thereby I notice again and again, how the clay works in itselfand what structures it brings forth, especially when using great heat. It is important to me that the work process remains visible.

About Ilona Schmidt

I live and work in Hamburg. Since 2007 free artistic studies in painting and sculpture Numerous exhibitions at home and abroad since 2011 Member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists / Schleswig Holstein State Association since 2013 Works in private collections in Argentina, Canada, Europe and the United States Represented in the Tempowerk Hamburg art collection In my paintings, acrylic and oil pastel intertwine in a passionate round dance of expressionism.
It bubbles over with emotion and vibrant energy. Every stroke is an echo of my feelings, a dance between reality and fantasy. The paintings combine naive figurative depictions with bold colors and spontaneous lines, which together create a captivating composition. They are windows into a world full of feelings, dreams and poetry - they are meant to challenge the viewer. In my sculptures I combine stoneware mass or clay and cold colors. The raw and untamed energy of the material embraces human grace as well as our imperfection.
