Detailed description

Sculpture "Rocketman" (2023)

The Rocketman sculpture combines organic and geometric elements to create a unique composition. At the center of the work is a fragmented human figure sculpted from stoneware. Its surface is rough, riddled with natural cracks and painted in earthy colors, giving it an archaic, almost fossil-like appearance. This figure is positioned in a narrow, tapered wooden frame that is reminiscent of the shape of a weaver's shuttle. The work can be presented either lying down or hanging. The possibility of placing it directly on the wall reinforces its presence as an art object and underlines the idea of a journey or movement - in keeping with the title Rocketman. The symbolic combination of body and vessel, of human form and technical element, invites reflection on transformation, protection and overcoming boundaries.

About Ilona Schmidt

Since 2007 I have devoted myself to free artistic studies, with a focus on painting and sculpture.
My works have been presented in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad and have been nominated and awarded several times. I have been a member of the Professional Association for Fine Artists since 2013. In my paintings and sculptures I try to capture the complexity of the human being. By using different techniques and materials, I create works that appeal to the emotions and thoughts of the viewer and stimulate reflection. My artistic work is characterized by a deep engagement with people and their environment. I explore the relationships between the individual and society, between body and mind, between past and present. My aim is to use my art to build a bridge between the viewer and the subject matter depicted. I want to arouse emotions, raise questions and provide food for thought. Because for me, art is not only an expression of my own thoughts and feelings, but also a medium for making contact with other people and inspiring them.
