Detailed description
Picture "Brandenburg" (2013)
The sketch for this picture was created on a bicycle tour through Brandenburg. The trigger was the mystical emptiness of the old village squares. Selling out and isolation. And the crow, perhaps one of the last inhabitants, but also a bird of prey. Who knows where it flew from, maybe it caused all this.
About Ralf Schmidt
There is a dialog between my works: you have "saved" the works you have already created, and when you create a work, the idea for the next work automatically forms in the back of your mind.
In my works, I try to make the inside visible through the outside: just as in some paintings outer landscapes are inner landscapes, my externally detailed depictions of people/things represent inner realities. People "on their way" or taking a decisive step from one stage of life to another are a recurring motif in my work.
