Detailed description

Sculpture "Pan X" (2021)

A project consisting of thousands of different spheres. Based on an abstract virus shape and the rotating movement of a spiral, the work was created with the intention of countering all the negativity of this time with something positive in the form of a sculpture.

About Stefan Ester

The development and rapid progress of recent years in technical, digital and socio-political terms involves many positive possibilities and access to all kinds of information, as well as their negative options or consequences. My focus in recent years has been on the artistic examination of media, the Internet, cabling and networking in many personal and social areas, but also on how we deal with our environment and nature. In a digitalized, consumer-oriented and often superficial world, I try to make people think with my conceptual sculptures and 2-dimensional works. The "glass man" is reflected in the open and translucent nature of the sculptures. The resulting work groups "Quo vadis" and "Networks" were realized in bronze, stainless steel and wood. "Arc Part of the circle Circle Element of the sphere Sphere Symbol of the earth" In the last 3 years, a further group of works entitled "Pan" has been created, whose works deal in particular with the global pandemic and its consequences. The abstracted virus form as a starting point for sculptures whose basic element is the spherical form.
