About Constance Renken
Freelance visual artist (Hamburg)
Abstract Expressionism
International exhibitions
Constance Renken lived in New York City for five years, where her work was exhibited in various galleries in Chelsea, in SoHo and on Long Island.
The years in New York were very formative in the development of her artistic creative process. Fascinated by American Abstract Expressionism, her art also focuses on emotion and spontaneity.
In her abstract, colorful artworks Constance Renken processes acrylic paints with spatula on canvas. In doing so, she applies many layers of paint after priming, in order to give the picture a changed surface structure and more depth, unlike when painting with brushes. Her color composition is thereby inspired by moods from encounters with people, but also by events that fascinate her and touch her emotionally. The more extreme and expressive the color contrasts, the more intense are the emotions that lastingly revolve around this memory.
Often the motifs of her works have an association with nature, which is evoked by the recurring horizon line in her works. This gives the viewer a point of orientation in the abstract play of colors, so that an imaginary expanse can arise, which evokes a certain wanderlust and a longing for boundless freedom.
Her paintings are regularly shown in national and international solo and group exhibitions as well as at art fairs and festivals. They are in public collections and in private ownership at home and abroad.
In addition, Constance Renken supports the worldwide water projects of Viva con Agua with her art, including at the Millerntor Gallery, where her works are successfully auctioned by the auction house CHRISTIE'S.
