Detailed description

Picture "Sakura One" (2023)

Sakura (japanese) means “cherry blossom” and is derived from saku, which means to bloom, or alternately to smile/laugh. Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. During the sakura period I was in Japan, and couldn't pass up these overwhelming blossoms. The subject contains so many painterly aspects. I set it up quite raw, spontaneous and direct, with a palette of only three colours, black, white and red. The sides are painted through, so that it can also be hung without a frame. The painting is ready to hang immediately.

About Ella Joosten

After having been schooled in miscellaneous art studies, Ella Joosten has worked as a professional visual artist since 1989.
In the course of the years she has grown into a significant, multifaceted artist. Her work has shown at various exhibitions all over the globe and were reproduced in several art books, catalogues and art magazines. Local municipalities, companies, private institutions and individual collectors purchase her work. Intreagued by the interplay of color and shapes, my figurative and abstract works are created in themed series. I have explored subjects which include nature, flowers, still lifes, geishas, fish, etc.
