Detailed description

Picture "The art of sailing: values and virtuosity at the turning mark" (2024)

The work "Sailing Art: Values and Virtuosity at the Turning Mark" in the style of contemporary art is characterized by its unique approach and the use of high-quality materials. The artist personally sourced the canvas and carefully primed it three times to create an optimal base for painting. This sail painting was created using only high-quality acrylic paints. The painting depicts a lively regatta scene at the turning mark, with various fabric collages, the incorporated sailcloth and the combination of printed and painted elements creating a dynamic and richly textured surface. The color scheme in various shades of blue, in contrast to the energetic red sails, gives the work an intense visual tension. The work is a unique piece on canvas, painted with high-quality acrylic paints and signed by the artist.

About Heike Schümann

Heike Schümann is a visual artist who specializes in the figurative depiction of women in an abstract style.
She is also inspired by her home in northern Germany. The different seas in their effervescent and calm ways and the fascination of nature always provide her with new ideas for her art. In her works, she combines clean lines with geometric shapes, integrating used sailcloths into her paintings to create a unique texture. Although the style of her sail paintings differs from figurative painting, her expressive and dynamic approach remains unmistakable. Heike Schümann has created a solid foundation for her painting. She learned the compositions and proportions of portrait painting in Hamburg. She attended the international educational institution in Steinbergkirche/Northern Germany for nude studies. She also studied abstract painting at the Kandern Art Academy in southern Germany. Over the years, Heike Schümann has developed her own style of painting, which combines dynamic and expressive forms. She places particular emphasis on the female body, emphasizing its individuality, self-confidence and strength. The artist uses high-quality acrylic paints in combination with markers, chalks, inks and charcoal on canvas. She integrates her own sketches, canvas and monotypes into her works to create tensions and contrasts. Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, galleries and art fairs, including NACHT DER MUSEEN and the art project MIXTUR 1 in Neumünster, at the art fair HAMBURG ZEIGT KUNST in Altona, HOLSTENART and at the GALERIA Casa del Arte in Palma de Mallorca in Spain
