The picture shows an intimate embrace. In the background you can see a destroyed house. Something has happened, something is broken, irreparable. The couple hold each other in the shock of pain.
About Ralf Schmidt
There is a dialog between my works: you have "saved" the works you have already created, and when you create a work, the idea for the next work automatically forms in the back of your mind.
In my works, I try to make the inside visible through the outside: just as in some paintings outer landscapes are inner landscapes, my externally detailed depictions of people/things represent inner realities. People "on their way" or taking a decisive step from one stage of life to another are a recurring motif in my work.
