Picture "The bathers VI - what about mindfulness???" (2023)
The "Bathers" series depicts self-confident and strong women in bathing suits in Pop Art style. At first glance, the viewer only recognizes the colourfully depicted bathing scene. A snapshot that may give rise to thoughts on themes such as femininity, freedom and the emancipation of women. Only on closer inspection does another socio-critical theme emerge, such as an ecological issue or a reference to a political or social topic of current affairs. The title "what about mindfulness?" refers to the idea of mindfulness - with oneself, with other people and living beings, with the environment. It is about treating the ecosystem with respect and sensitivity. I used acrylic paint, graphite, oil pastels and tissue paper for this mixed-media work.
