Detailed description

Picture "Balancing Act" (2022)

The bold dark blue blocks at the top right contrast with a single patch to the left of them. A seemingly beautiful red patch has been covered with a greenish brown, considered by many to be the ugliest color in the world. Hence the large gap between them. This creates tension that the viewer would like to resolve by mentally filling the gap with the most appropriate color, only to find that harmony already exists. It is often an unusual color combination that creates a highly enjoyable thrill. There are many other color clashes scattered throughout the painting that add up to an interesting viewing experience.

About Thomas Steyer

Thomas Steyer developed his style from Realism to Abstract Expressionism.
He has now reached the point where he is able to express his feelings in a direct and meaningful way through artistic synthesis. With the use of cognitive dissonance, he captures his mental and emotional impulses or states of mind, which describe his life with all the tangible influences of this world. The result is a work that allows the viewer to see more than is shown.
