Picture "My love is still burning" (2023)
My husband stands in the kitchen and does the dishes while I make an espresso next to him. Actually, I know him inside out, including his moods and jokes. On the one hand, of course, I want reliability and security, but on the other hand.... It's normal to want both. But in a relationship it is very difficult to get both. Because for that we would have to find the same person exciting and arousing, who is supposed to offer us security and familiarity. And then I look at him and suddenly I see him with completely different eyes. In fact, I quickly notice things that I had forgotten: how beautiful his back is when he changes in the morning. How different his lips feel when I'm not thinking about the grocery list or a new picture while kissing him. My husband notices me watching him. "What's wrong?" he asks. I look at him, at his face, which I love, which is familiar, so without thinking I say, "I'm really in love with you again right now."
