Lanzarote appears inhospitable and hostile to life to the visitor at first sight. There is hardly any greenery and plants and the landscape consists of the craters of extinct volcanoes and their enormous lava flows. The elemental force of this scenery is emphasized by the moving ocean and the play of light from the sun near the equator. In small and large sections, these scenes appear like abstract paintings with almost monochrome coloration on the large scale and immensely multifaceted and detailed color diversity on the small scale. The elemental force of the ocean and the expression of bizarre eternity and finality inherent in the solidified lava take hold of the visitor to this island deeply and create lasting emotional traces. The series "Lanzarote, life's eternity" is about these impressions. Rarely has abstract painting been so close to reality in the pictorial motif as in the completely freely created works of this series.
